Could it be that going to your former apartment triggered some ennui? Was that where you and your ex-husband lived? I've wanted to ask you if your ex was decent enough to either be extra kind post cancer-diagnosis, or to leave you completely alone and not foist any negativity off on you.
I completely relate to wanting quiet, and a long walk where little is spoken but good things are communicated.
